ROCHESTERINK, Rochester’s Annual Poetry Festival

Announces a Call for Submissions
For its Adult Poetry Contest

1. Submit 1-3 poems. Poems must be the original work of the contestant. Each poem cannot exceed 40 lines. Contestant’s name must not appear on any of the poems. No simultaneous submissions allowed. No previously published poems allowed. Poems can be on any topic. Poems should be submitted in a common typeface (Times New Roman, Garamond, Arial) and at a 12 point size. (No handwritten submissions.)

2. Submissions must include: a cover letter that includes the titles of the submitted poems and the contestant’s contact information (address, phone number, and email); and a $5 check made out to “Just Poets.” Please note “RochesterInk Poetry Contest” in the memo line.

3. Only mailed submissions will be accepted. Mail submissions to: RochesterInk Poetry Contest, 1935 Penfield Rd., Penfield, NY 14526.

4. Please send submissions between April 15, 2007, and August 24, 2007. Submissions postmarked after August 24 will not be considered for contest. Poems will not be returned. (Please do not send your only copies.)

5. Winner will receive $50 and 5 copies of a broadside with the winning poem and original artwork by Adrien C. Tucker (www.actucker.com). Four finalists will receive one copy of the winning broadside.

A limited number (55) of the 8 1/2" by 14" broadsides will be published and available for sale at reading of winning poem. Winning poet will receive half the money from sales of the broadsides from the night of the reading. Winner will be requested to sign broadsides at the night of the reading (Date to be determined but will occur on the weekend of October 19-20, 2007. (Tentatively on Saturday 20, at 6 pm.) Only poets who reside in the general vicinity of Rochester, New York, (Buffalo, Syracuse, Finger Lakes, etc) and who can be available for the reading and signing are eligible for contest.)

6. There will be one winner and four finalists. Each finalist will be asked to read their poem at the night of the reading of the winning poem and all finalists will be published on the RochesterInk web site. Winning poem and finalist poems will also be considered for publication in Redactions: Poetry & Poetics.

7. Final judge will be announced at the same time as the winning and finalist poems: October 1 on the RochesterInk web site: Rochester Ink

8. All entry fees from contest will be used to support RochesterInk.
